I have some disturbing news on this episode…so you can categorize this as a rant.
But I think you can learn something if you hang in with me.
I left the Southern Baptist Convention in the 1970’s. The big reason was over the Missions Board policies that I considered deceptive and more business than ministry oriented.
Now by their own admission, the Southern Baptist Convention is a denomination in decline.
They have announced they will reduce their foreign missions staff by 600-800 people. Why? Has the world been reached? NO!!!
Because they run this as a business and not a ministry. Missions, the business of the Lord’s churches is not the main thing.
There are lessons here for every independent Baptist.
What is wrong?
1. Missions is a business
2. Status Quo instead of Sacrifice…
3. Missions is a side business
Do you want to get out of the confines of your box? And get into the Book that should define you?
