Ultimately counsel is perspective with a recommendation on a course of action.
But all counsel must be filtered through the Word of God. Without that filter a person is making a decision in the dark.
This passage, Philippians 4:8 has served me well for many years as my first and best filter.
All counsel should be run through this filter.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Phil 4:8
